At Home Dental Care: Oil Pulling

Oil pulling has a major impact on taking care of many dental issues including pain, bleeding gums, stained teeth, and loose teeth. One of the main benefits of oil pulling is, of course, improved dental health, but there are many more.

One of the most amazing results is that it fixes teeth that are loose. Some other benefits include: heal oral infections, bad breath, tooth sensitivity, tooth pain, and prevent tooth decay. It will also clean the teeth and lift stains. I not only do oil pulling with organic coconut oil, but I also brush my teeth with it. It may sound strange, but it really does work great because my last visit to the dentist was a good one.

What and how does one oil pull? Well, it's very easy and relaxing once you get the hang of it. All it is is the swishing around of oil in the mouth for 15 to 20 minutes, like a mouth wash. Yes, this seems like a very long time and you may feel that you can't do it that long. I felt the same way, but like with everything in life, practice makes perfect. After that time is up, spit it out and wash your mouth. That's it.

It's best to do first thing in the morning upon wakening, before eating or drinking. It can be done up to 3 times each day, just make sure you wait 4 hours after eating and drinking. It's completely safe and can be done by anyone, young and old. It's important that the person not swallow the oil and is able to swish it around in their mouth for this period of time.

Did you know that the toxins and bacteria inside the mouth are responsible for making us ill? Oil pulling works by pulling in or drawing out that bacteria hiding in your gums and those small crevices and tubules between the teeth. Your saliva and the oil work to pull out the toxins, making your mouth and teeth healthy. Your mouth is the gateway to your body, and if it's healthy and clean, no bacteria will enter the body.

Research has shown that some diseases are indeed linked to oral health. So, it really is important for your overall health to have good dental health. As said before, when the mouth and gums are in a good, healthy condition, the bacteria will not enter into the bloodstream. It's good to know that oil pulling is so good for dental health, especially nowadays since so many are afraid of the dentist. This doesn't mean to avoid the dentist altogether, but it will help keep your teeth and gums healthy.

Let's say you're having an issue and cannot get to the dentist right away. Oil pulling works to ease tooth pain and will also speed up the healing process with tooth implants. It is also safe if you have crowns. You can use any type of oil like organic coconut, sunflower, sesame, or virgin olive. You may not enjoy the taste of one, so then you can try another.
